The Farm
Two Stones Farm & Mill is a small, organic farm growing & milling grain, fruit, & vegetables seeking to revive local foodways with integrity by growing nutrient dense foods to nourish families.
Growing up on the land where the farm is rooted, Duane planted a large blueberry patch as a teenager, inspired by his Grandpa Hawthorne and Great-Grandpa Thomas who propagated blueberries and ran berry U-Picks in Georgia. He has tended to the original patch over the past 20 years while expanding farm operations.
Lindsey worked in various wood fired bakeries in Italy,North Carolina, & Maine while diving deeper into learning about bread’s main ingredient, flour. While working as a bread baker and grist miller in Asheville, Lindsey met Duane & the next year they started growing wheat, corn, rye, and oats together.
The Artist
Molly Reeder is an artist specializing in botanical, plant & food story. She paints large scale detailed watercolors of edible & plant-based subjects, highlighting their unique beauty and innate healing. She is particularly inspired by the weaving threads within food and plant ancestry, and the wisdom of the natural world. Molly seeks meaningful collaborations through the lens of her artwork, where her paintings and illustrations help to support and showcase community & human rights organizations, and especially environmental/climate activism efforts.
She spent many years traveling and living across the world in places such as New Zealand, Bulgaria and Hawaii. Molly now finds a home in Richmond, VA (Powhatan Land) with her husband and pup. She is inspired by food ancestry, plants, and the human connection and narrative within these.
Molly’s work has been featured in such publications as Slow Drinks: A field guide to Foraging and Fermenting Seasonal Sodas, Botanical Cocktails, Homemade Wines, and more, Evergreen Kitchen: Weeknight Vegetarian Dinners for Everyone, Saveur Magazine, Taproot Magazine, Life and Thyme, PALM Hawaii, and Bake From Scratch
The Workshop
Molly will teach a wet on dry technique of watercolor, pulling inspiration from the farm plants and produce that we pick out as our subjects/muses. There will be a particular focus on ritual and mindfulness around the creative process, so that we can enjoy the meditative act of painting while also noticing new beauty in our plant friends. All of this is held in an open invitation to play and explore!
Supplies provided, no experience necessary!
Intimate class size.
Getting to the Farm:
Located in the valley of Camp Creek, TN, approximately 45 miles from Asheville & 10 miles from Greeneville. We will send you an address after confirming your space.
Rain or Shine:
The workshop will be held in a covered area, but you may want to bring some boots, a sun hat, & water bottle when we roam the fields.
To Note:
This workshop is located on a working farm. By attending you are agreeing to participate with the same respect we bring to the landscape, awareness of the elements, & the aesthetic of a working farm over a manicured farm.
